1. Use largest brush with white with a tiny bit of black to make a light gray. Using up and down strokes cover the top 2/3 of the canvas. Then using side to side strokes and a slightly darker gray to fill the bottom 1/3. 

2. Use medium brush to create the shadows of the trees in the back ground. 

3. Use the medium brush with red and a tiny bit of black to create the dark red to fill in a rounded rectangle of the truck bed and a brush with of a rounded rectangle of the cab.

4. Use the medium with the sage green and white to create the trees in the background. Then use medium brush and the darker green mixed with a tiny bit of black to create the tree in the back of the truck.

1. Use largest brush with white and Sage green to cover the tp 2/3 of the canvas. Then add some of the brighter green towards the bottom. 

2. Use a dabbing technique to create the texture on the background. 

3. Using brown and white and side to side strokes cover the lower 1/3 of the canvas. You may want to leave room unpainted for the cup. 

4. Use the medium brush and the bright green with a tiny bit of black to create the stems of the flowers. Use caution with the amount of black. 

5. Rinse brush and use medium brush to fill in the cup and handle with white. Then add a bit of black to create a gray and add shadowing on cup and under the cup.

UP UP and Away

1. Use largest brush with white and and a tiny bit of blue to create the the light blue sky at the upper left.

2. Work you way down the canvas at an angle to fill your sky with gradually darker blue. The bottom right corner being blue and a little bit of black to create a midnight blue. 

3. Once your whole canvas is a “sky”, then using a small amount of color on a dry brush, add your clouds. I find it helpful to use a finger to smudge the cloud to make the softness. 

4. Use the medium brush to create your balloon. 

5. Use smallest brush  to add the basket and lines on the ballon.  Black and orange will create a brown.

1. Use largest brush with white and and a tiny bit of black to create the gray sky. 

2. Then adding blue to make a blue-gray add in your mountains

3. Still using the big brush, use the dark blue and leave about an inch of white between your mountains and the shore line. Work down the canvas with the dark blue. You can add a tiny bit of black for a midnight blue color. 

4. Use straight black to add in your trees and grass at the bottom. Let you brush leave the marks to create the texture. 

5. Use medium brush and white and orange to create your sun. 

6. Use smallest brush and black to create your birds.

The Roaming Gnome

1. Decide where your gnome is going to roam. I’ve included some suggestions. 

2. Cut out the large gnome to use as a template. Lightly trace your gnome onto the canvas with pencil.

3. Using largest brush, paint in your background.  –  If you are simply doing the snowy gnomes: Use largest brush and blue and very little black paint to create a dark blue for the ground. Paint approx. 1.5 inches from the bottom. Do Not Rinse your brush, but add white to the brush, and work your way upward only picking up more white when needed so that you create a background from a light blue to a very light blue/white.

1. Use the largest brush and blue and a little black and paint the bottem two inches of “ground”. 

2. Do Not Rinse your brush, but add white to the brush and lightly outline where your gnomes will be. Then use what is left on your brush and work your way upward adding lighter blue towards the bottom and only picking up more white when needed so that you create a background from a light blue to a very light blue/white. 

3. Use Medium brush to fill in the hats. Add a tiny bit of black to the red to create a dark red. Add a little bit of white to black to create a charcoal black. Then use same brush to add black shoes. Rinse. Use white and brown to create face. Rinse. Use white and black to create beards. Let dry some or use a hair dryer...

1. Use paper plate as a template to trace an outline for your moon with a pencil. 

2. Use largest brush with white and yellow to fill in the moon. Then without washing brush add orange and work  your way outward. 

3.Using orange and black start at the corners to and using circular motions around the moon blend until you meet the orange. 

4. Use the medium size brush and black to outline your house. Start with making three elongated trianges and then use the baby brush to outline the windows. Fill in around the windows all black.

1. Use largest brush with white and brown, use up and down strokes to create your fence/board.

2. Use smallest brush to add the black lines of the  fence and the nail holes.

3. Use Medium brush with dark brown (brown and black to create a quarter size center of the dandelion. Then using dark brown create a shadow outline about 1.5-2 inches around the center. 

4. Add a little green to your brush and create your stem with the brown and green. 

5. Using medium brush and white paint, create your wisps around the out side of the dandelion. Create an outer and inner circle. 

6. Use smallest brush and white to create your stems to the puff  and the fly aways. Make sure they are flying away from the puff.

1. Use largest brush with white and yellow and work from bottom to top to create your sunset. Once you do some light yellow, add some light blue (white and blue) and then work towards the top with a pink (white and red).   

3. Once you have a foundation of colors, then using the big brush and a combination of paints, create your clouds. You can use a swirl motion or back and forth. The sky is the limkit. 

4. Using you medium bursh and black paint, create your tree trunks where the tops form a diangleal line from small to large from left to right. 

5. Using medium or small brush create your palm leaves with a fireworks motion, moving from center outward. 

6. Sign your work and clean your brushes with soap and water.
